Lissa Rankin was born in Florida and raised in California. A self-taught painter who creates abstract paintings, notable for their gestural energy and lyrical movement, she works with both encaustic painting and mixed media and has exhibited her work in galleries and museums nationally. A retired OB/GYN, she paints, teaches art, and is writing two books, including Encaustic: A Guide to Creating Fine Art With Wax. She lives in Northern California with her husband and fellow artist, Matt Klein, and their daughter Siena.
